Mapping Salem

African American History in Salem, Virginia

This is a project of the Fall 2016 Introduction to Public History class at Roanoke College. Students have spent the semester researching and documenting historic African American sites in Salem, Virginia. This research project culminated in a walking tour and forum on December 3, 2016.

The research presented here is the culmination of a class project. Any errors should be reported to Dr. Rosenthal at rosenthal@roanoke.edu. Students in future semesters will continue to refine and add to this map.
